Highway 299 in East Redding reopens after morning crash

Authorities say a man was seriously injured after being involved in a crash on Highway 299 in east Redding Monday morning.

California Highway Patrol officers received reports of a two vehicle collision just before 8 a.m.

Officers learned a silver Toyota Corolla was pulling out from a stop sign at Sonora Trail, onto Highway 299, when it was broadsided by a Ford Utility one ton pickup truck.

The driver of the Corolla was taken to a local hospital with major injuries. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

Highway 299 was closed for an hour as the vehicles were towed an officers conducted an investigation.
