High winds fueled a fast-moving vegetation fire Saturday. According to CalFire, the blaze broke out around 2:00pm and quickly ripped through seven acres of vegetation near Munjar Road in the community of Nord. Two homes were nearby, but firefighters got it under control quickly. According to CalFire Battalion Chief Tony Brownell, flames, driven by high afternoon winds, nearly jumped the road, which would have created a much more dangerous scenario. Said Brownell, "The fire did spark on the other side of the road, but we took care of it. If it did get established, it would have burned probably another 30 or 40 acres." Firefighters would not speculate on what caused the blaze.
