Two people have been arrested after they allegedly led police on a high speed chase through Tehama County Christmas morning.

The chase began in Red Bluff, when a Red Bluff police officer noticed Ruby Jane Epperson, 43, riding as a passenger in a vehicle. The officer knew Epperson has several warrants out for her arrest in Shasta County so he initiated traffic stop.

The driver refused to stop, and sped off on Highway 99, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to the Red Bluff Police Department.

Tehama County sheriff’s deputies took over the chase and said the driver crashed as he tried to make a sharp left turn in the city of Tehama.

Despite crashing, Epperson and the driver tried to flee on foot, but were arrested nearby.

Deputies identified the driver as Justin Tucker, 39, from Bella Vista. They said Tucker, who is on probation, had tried to cut his ankle monitor off.

Both were booked into the Tehama County Jail on outstanding warrants.
