A Redding police officer tried to pull over a white Honda Accord for a traffic violation on Highway 273 near Caterpillar Road around 11:20 p.m. last night. The Honda then sped off northbound towards Interstate 5. The driver, later identified as 24 year-old Travis Haller, got off on Oasis Road, but police say he took the turn going too fast and ended up airborne before landing in a nearby field. Haller tried to take off on foot after crashing but eventually surrendered. Police say Haller had 5 outstanding warrants and was also found in possession of 5 grams of cocaine and a syringe containing heroin. He was arrested and later taken to Mercy Medical Center for injuries he received during the crash.
