A wheel-chair bound woman died Monday morning after she was pulled from her burning home by her husband and neighbor.

The fire broke out just before 9 a.m. at a home on Maria drive in northeast Redding, near the Tierra Oaks Golf Course.

Fire officials told Action News Now that flames initially trapped Becky Kendall, but her husband and a neighbor eventually got her out of the house. Though she was conscious and alert right after being rescued from the flames, Kendall died later at Mercy Medical Center.

The victim's husband, Steve, suffered burns to his hands and head and was taken to Mercy for treatment.

Kendall, who was in her late 50s, suffered from a neurological disorder known as Machado-Joseph disease, which has symptoms similar to Parkinson's.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
