The heat goes on! Wednesday should be the hottest day of our current heatwave... And let's hope of the year as well.
High pressure continues to strengthen, so we continue to heat up. Our current heatwave should peak Wednesday, with Valley highs ranging from 107 to 115! The hottest temperatures will be in the north end of the Valley, near Redding. The ridge will weaken and the delta breeze will strengthen after that, which will lead to a slow cooling trend. By early next week, look for highs returning to near average for early July... which will seem very nice after our current heatwave!
Monsoon moisture is moving north, rotating around our strong high pressure ridge centered over the four corners region. Models are indicating a big surge to come our way early Friday, which could trigger a few light showers in the Valley, and scattered thunderstorms in the mountains. The upper level winds should shift to a southwesterly direction by Saturday (the 4th of July), which would blow that monsoon moisture into Nevada.
So, next week looks relatively nice again... But tomorrow is going to be a day to remember, because of the heat!
