Healthcare union calls for Redding police chief's resignation

Feb 9, 2015 11:56 AM by News Staff

The United Healthcare Workers Union is calling on Redding Police Chief Robert Paoletti to resign citing the department's relationship with a local hospital and treatment of extremely intoxicated people.

The announcement from the union comes after they reportedly uncovered data showing that Shasta Regional Medical Center regularly calls the Redding Police Department to pick up seriouslydrunk patients, rather than treating them.

Chief Paoletti currently serves on the medical board of Shasta Regional Medical Center.

A spokesman for the United Healthcare Workers Union says the union would like Paoletti to either resign from the police department or the medical board to restore trust in the community.
