The Butte County Interagency Hazardous Materials Team say two suspicious materials found by a parks official in Caper Acres Friday have been deemed safe.
A parks department worker found green liquid dripping from a wooden fence post outside Caper Acres Park near One Mile, along with a pale yellow, almost white, powder on a fence post, a light pole, and a drinking fountain.
Officials taped off the immediate areas surrounding the materials before the HAZMAT team arrived.
Because the substances were dried and isolated no evacuations were issued, and test results eventually determined the liquid was kerosene wood-based treatment, while the powder was a pesticide.
