For Chanukah (also known as Hanukkah) the Chabad Jewish Center will host its 10th annual celebration. It will be at the Chico Downtown City Plaza on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Festivities include: Menorah Lighting, Musical Entertainment, holiday games and crafts, music, and traditional Chanukah treats followed by a Car Menorah Parade. The parade includes twenty cars with large menorahs on its roof and will bring the lights of Chanukah and holiday spirit come alive.

The holiday lasts eight days and will run through Dec. 14. The key ceremony at the center of Chanukah is the lighting a menorah each night.

Chanukah is a holiday that enriches our lives with the light of tradition" said Rabbi Mendy Zwiebel, director of the The Rohr Chabad Jewish Center. "In ancient times our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the Menorah. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place."

By popular demand, the highlight this year will once again be a lively, exciting Chanukah Present Auction! Everyone will receive “Chanukah Gelt (play-money)”with which to bid for eight surprise gifts. Some will be humorous and some of value. This game is sure to keep the crowd entertained and on a roll.
