Hamilton City Fire Dept. seeking applicants

The Hamilton City Fire Department is seeking a few good men and women.

The Glenn County-based fire department is accepting applications for its volunteer firefighter brigade and the ready reserve brigade.

Anyone who interested, and is over 18, is encouraged to apply. Volunteers do not get paid but do get hands-on experience.

We spoke with an applicant who hopes this volunteer work leads to a full-time firefighting position.

“It’s just like playing a sport: the more training you get and the more repetitions you do of it you get better,” said Lauren Toran, who recently applied for the volunteer brigade. “There’s always something new to learn.”

Applications can be picked up at Diamond W. Western Wear, Chico Fire Station 1 and the Hamilton City Fire Department.
