Chico Unified School District will have a groundbreaking celebration Wednesday.
Director, Facilities and Construction, Julie Kistle said it will be at 3:45 p.m. at the Chico Junior High quad area.
It will be for a new science building. The CUSD Facilities and Construction Department wrote on its Facebook that contractors are currently working on installing utilities.
Kistle said the new science building at the junior high costs about $7.4 million. It is apart of a larger project in which all three junior highs in the public school district will get either a new building or be renovated.
The entire project costs about $28 million from Measure E bonds, developer fees, and leverage state dollars, said Kistle.
