The search for 81-year-old John Chesley has continued today after ground operations were suspended yesterday while rescuers worked to formulate the best course of action moving forward.
Today rescue teams are re-covering areas that have been previously covered, hoping to gather information that may have been missed. Yesterday reverse 911 calls were made to houses within a 5-mile radius of where Chesley was last seen.
The Butte County Search and Rescue has said that the weather has created complications in the search because clues left behind by Chesley have the potential to be washed away.
Chesley has been missing since around 1:00 p.m. Saturday. He has a history of dementia and trouble hearing. He was last seen wearing a blue flannel shirt and blue or black tennis shoes. Police say he likes to make piles of rocks or sticks and if anyone finds something like this they should alert police because Chesley may be close.
If anyone sees Chesley or has any information they should call the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 538-7321.
