Gridley woman killed in house fire

A Gridley woman has died after a fire broke out in her home late Wednesday night.

The fire started around 10:45 p.m. at a home on the 1100 block of Dewsnup Avenue in West Gridley. Cal Fire investigators say when firefighters arrived on the scene, neighbors had pulled the woman out of the home and were using hoses to try and stop the fire from spreading.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her two dogs were also killed in the fire.

Fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to the entire house and the fire was contained to the kitchen area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the woman's name has not been released.
