A nursing home in Gridley may soon be forced to close its doors after not receiving Medi-Cal payments from the state.

According to a public relations firm representing the Gridley Health and Wellness Center, the facility is scheduled to close July 21. Sitrick and Company says the center has been providing care for its 66 residents without any reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid for the last nine months.

The residents and their families have been notified about the situation and the company says it is working to accommodate all the residents at other locations.

Nearly 100 employees work at the facility and the company has not said if they will be laid off or transferred to another location.

The company also said they are still working with the state to see if they can find a solution to keep the facility open before the closing date.
