After more than 40 years in business, a long-time Chico establishment will close its doors for the last time.
The Graduate Bar and Restaurant will no longer be a place that locals can go to catch their favorite sports teams or enjoy a delicious meal, after Sunday.
Graduate managers did not want to be interviewed, but said that slowing business forced their corporate office to shut the restaurant down.
Long-time Graduate regular Bill Christou said he was sad that after 20 years of watching his Pittsburg Steelers there, he'd have to find a new home to watch the games.
"I'm Just kind of at a loss for what I'm going to do now," he said.
Another long time Graduate fan, Mike Antolock, said the news that The Graduate was to close hit him "like a ton of bricks."
"You take things for granted and you think it's never going to go away so you really don't pay much attention to it. We always thought it was going to be here. We have other problems and other issues. And then you get the announcement, one day it's gone," he said.
The Graduate will remain open until 11 p.m. tonight for those who want to spend one last night at their favorite watering hole.
