Governor Brown's office announced Monday night they have secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to enable the availability of firefighting funds for local, state and tribal agencies responding to the Boles Fire in Siskiyou County.

The fire has currently burned 400 acres near the town of Weed, destroyed at least 100 structures and forced more than 1,500 people to evacuate.

Winds gusting to 40 mph are pushing the flames into the town. Siskiyou County sheriff's deputies have gone door-to-door to evacuate the town and nearby Carrick and Lake Shastina.
