The more than half dozen wildfires burning in the North State has prompted Gov. Jerry Brown to declare a state of emergency.
Brown proclaimed the emergency Saturday as the fires continue to burn thousands of acres, destroy homes and damage critical infrastructure.
The state of emergency covers 11 northern California counties; Butte, Shasta, Madera, Modoc, Siskiyou, Mendocino, Amador, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lassen, and Mariposa.
In addition to the state of emergency Brown secured a federal grant to cover 75 percent of a nearly 33-square-mile fire that started in Oregon and has crossed into California.
