The Good News Rescue Mission in Redding is hosting their 7th annual "Harvest of Hope" fundraiser. Celebrating more than 50 years of service, the organization has helped tens of thousands of those in need in Shasta County.
Last year alone, between shelter, meals served, clothing donated, and recovery and educational program participants, more than 4,000 people walked through the doors for help. That number is on par if not better than organizations with double their annual budget.
Director of development Ken White says, "the mission is a walking, living, breathing miracle."
He adds that the face of poverty is ever changing saying, "we really want people to build relationships with our guests and realize that these are their neighbors their friends and their family. "
