In honor of Super Bowl 50, the NFL has been giving every high school that produced a Super Bowl player a golden football, and Red Bluff High received one on Saturday night at their annual Hall of Fame dinner.
Both former Spartans Bob Grim and Gale Gilbert were on Super Bowl teams.
Grim appeared in two Super Bowls with the Vikings in 1969 and 1976.
Gilbert is the only player in the NFL history to be a member of five straight Super Bowl teams, four with the Bills and one with the Chargers, from 1990-1994. All five teams lost.
Neither Grim or Gilbert were in attendance but Red Bluff High School Athletic Director Brad Wagner, who performed the induction, was honored to accept the golden football.
"It is to represent the things that education does for athletes and how we helped prepare these players for the future and kind of a reward for us, a thank you from the NFL," said Wagner.
Super Bowl 50 will air on CBS-12 on February 7th from Levi's Stadium.
