2015 promises to be a big year for Glenn County's only hospital.
The community was invited to an open house at Glenn Medical Center in Willows to learn more about its new state-of-the-art mammogram machine.
The unit was made possible through the support of the Glenn Medical Foundation and its "Splendor in the Valley" fundraiser, that takes place every September at the late Cal Worthington's Big W Ranch south of Orland.
While the 475-thousand dollar mammography machine was donated, the Glenn Medical Foundation paid thousands for the training and supplies needed to launch the program.
Dawna Keolanui of Glenn Medical Center told Action News Now, "Patients were being referred out to other facilities for newer equipment. Now we have the newest and the latest software out right here, and we're excited to have it. Hopefully we'll get our patients back so we can continue to deliver quality health care right here in willows."
Meanwhile, a ceremony is planned for March to break ground on an entirely new hospital building.
The project that's been in the works for years and will usher in a new era of health care for Glenn County residents and others , who depend on Glenn Medical Center.
