Glenn County Sheriffs searching for missing man in Mendocino forest

Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a Glenn County man they believe is missing in the Mendocino National Forest.

John Maiers was last seen by his friend Brett McLucas at the Sacramento Airport May 16.

McLucas said the plan was for Maiers to meet him at the Kettenpom Store in Zenia, California. When Maiers didn’t show at their planned meet time, McLucas said he became worried and reported Maiers missing.

Maiers is travelling in a white 2006 Subaru Wagon with Minnesota license plate number 005HYY.

Maiers is described as 6’0” tall, 170 lbs., blue eyes with shoulder length brown hair and a long beard. Maiers is known to carry a camo backpack with him.

Glenn County Sheriff officials said they are working with the California Highway Patrol to utilize a helicopter to search for Maiers’ vehicle.
