Glenn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a human remains were found in a walnut orchard on Saturday afternoon on Highway 45 near County Road 203.
Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones says the property owner called dispatch around 4:19 p.m. after one of the employees found the remains.
Jones says the remains look to be of a man unknown if it’s a young adult or a juvenile, the body has been in the orchards for no more than two or three days.
“The body has been extremely badly burned and it appears it was done obviously on purpose,” Sheriff Jones said.
Sheriff’s investigators have called the Department of Justice criminologist and forensic pathologist to gather evidence at the scene.
Jones say investigators are trying to figure out if the man died at a different location and his body was dumped and burned in the orchards.
Investigators will be gathering evidence all through the night and into the early Sunday morning, Jones said.
