Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones, who has served as the county’s Sheriff-Coroner since 2005, announced yesterday he will not seek reelection when his term expires at the end of this year.

“I will enthusiastically recommend and wholeheartedly support my Undersheriff, Richard Warren, to be my successor and become the 15th Sheriff of Glenn County,” Jones told the Glenn County Board of Supervisors. I feel he possesses all the qualities to be the next Sheriff and he knows the inner-workings of the agency better than anyone. I cannot think of a more qualified individual to take the helm from me.”

Jones will have completed 10 years as Sheriff when his current term ends in December and has worked in various capacities with the agency for more than 40 years. Jones told the board he still has many things he wishes to accomplish in his final year, including incrementally bringing back positions to the Sheriff’s Office.

“My goal is to return two deputy positions in the fiscal year 2014/2015,” said Jones. “Also of paramount importance to the Sheriff is to ensure a smooth and seamless transition of leadership when a new Sheriff is elected".
