A Glenn County man has been arrested for allegedly punching a 12-year-old boy, leaving the scene while drunk and then returning to the scene where he struck and strangled his ex-wife.

According to the Glenn County Sheriff's Office, deputies where to called to Phil's Way, in the Grindstone Rancheria north of Elk Creek, around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday after several people told 911 dispatchers about a domestic violence incident going on in the area.

When deputies arrived a 28-year-old woman told them her babysitter had called her at work, claiming 37-year-old Stephen Pete had punched her 12-year-old son in the face. The woman returned home and found her son with a contusion on his face, and an intoxicated Pete, her ex-husband, driving around in a "crazy manner".

The woman told deputies that Pete soon returned to her house, hit a parked car, and then grabbed her by the arms, dragged her 15 feet towards the house and then violently threw her down on the floor.

The woman told police she tried to flee the home, but Pete blocked the exit with his arms, she eventually made it outside and called 911, but while she was on the phone with dispatchers Pete snatched the cell phone and smashed it on the ground.

Witnesses on the scene told deputies they saw Pete strike and strangle the victim, but she never told this to deputies.

Investigators eventually learned that a restraining order had been issued in 2012, ordering Pete to stay 200 yards away from the victim.

Deputies took Pete into custody and he was booked into the Glenn County Jail for investigation of kidnapping, false imprisonment, burglary, and willful cruelty to a child, all felonies. He was also booked for investigation of DUI, violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence, battery on a non-cohabitating former spouse and damaging a wireless communication device during an emergency.

The victim declined medical treatment and deputies provided her with Marsy's Law information.
