Emergency work is underway at two Sacramento River boat launches in Glenn County which have become unusable due to silt build up and vegetation overgrowth.
Cleaning operations at the Ord Ferry and Butte City Boat launches began yesterday, just two days after the County Board of Supervisors approved spending $5,000 on the project.
Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones said the conditions at the launches have forced his river patrol crews and search and rescue crews to use the Irvine Finch River Access near Hamilton City, causing critical delays during some recent operations.
The launch closures have also been a big inconvenience for fisherman, especially now with Salmon fishing on the Sacramento River well underway.
