Authorities in Glenn County are still looking for an inmate who escaped a fire conservation camp.

Inmate Jorge Macedo was last seen at the Valley View conservation camp in Elk Creek where he was working as part of a Cal Fire inmate hand crew.

Macedo was assigned after being placed in custody for possession of a controlled substance for sale back in March.
According to Battalion Chief Scott McLean incidents like this are uncommon.

Two out of 4,300 inmates, assigned to fire conservation camps, have escaped.
For those concerned about the potential risk to the public, Cal Fire officials say there are strict eligibility requirements that have to be met before joining these crews. All are low level inmates.

Authorities are asking anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Jorge Macedo to contact the California Correctional Center's watch commander at (530) 257-2181.
