Glenn County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the 2nd shooting in Hamilton City in less than a week. Sheriff's deputies were called out to Sierra Avenue near 1st Street in Hamilton City just after 4 a.m. Friday morning for a report of shots fired. When they arrived on scene, deputies found 5 .243 caliber shell casings in the street. On Sunday, 2 cars and the front door of a home were hit with what investigators believe to be shotgun blasts just a few blocks up the road. A home was also hit in Friday's shooting, leaving bullet holes in a wall and a sliding glass door. Several people were in the house when it happened. No one was injured. Witnesses reported seeing two people on foot in the area at the time of the shooting, but were not able to give a description of what they looked like. Investigators are still trying to determine whether the two shootings are somehow linked.
Undersheriff Rich Warren says, "We believe at this time that they may be related. We haven't been able to correlate that, but we don't believe that these are just random shootings."
Deputies say the shootings don't appear to be gang related, and that they may be linked to a previous crime that happened in the area.No arrests have been made yet in connection with the shootings. Anyone with information is asked to call the Glenn County Sheriff's Office.
