Gingery released from coaching position, retains teaching job

Shasta High School officials announced Friday that head football coach Aaron Gingery has been permanently relieved of his duties as head coach, but will continue to teach at the school.

The move to release Gingery as coach is effective immediately and is made in lieu of a formal complaint filed against Gingery alleging he kicked a player in the groin during a September practice.

The Redding Police Department investigated the allegations and then turned the case over to the Shasta District Attorney's Office. After reviewing the case the DA's office declined to file charges, saying the incident is most appropriately dealt with by the school board's disciplinary process.

According to the school district, Gingery will be returning to his teaching position as soon as possible.

Lloyd Beaudette will be the Shasta High School interim head coach for the remainder of the football season, after which school officials will conduct a complete hiring.
