Two suspects were arrested early Tuesday morning after Butte County sheriff's deputies caught them with $13,500 worth of stolen gift cards.

31-year-old Alex Ikesaki and 47-year-old Tami Deanda, from Sacramento, were pulled over at the AM/PM gas station in Oroville around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies conducted a probation search and reportedly found $13,500 of gift cards for MasterCard, Visa, and various retail stores. The cards were organized, and the account information was recorded. Along with the gift cards, deputies located items that would allow Ikesaki and Deanda to obtain the PIN numbers for the cards.

Sheriff's deputies believe the suspects stole the gift cards, and tracked the account information for the cards so that they could return them to the retailers they were stolen from. The suspects would then be able to monitor the card's account numbers so that when an unsuspecting, legitimate customer purchased the gift cards they could steal the money that had been loaded on the card.
