Redding police say the man wanted for punching a gas pump and causing roughly $1,000 in damages, turned himself into authorities after his friends saw his picture online.

The suspect was identified as Bobby Allen Burgess, 20, of Shasta Lake.

Police say a manager at the AM/PM Market on Cascade Boulevard in Redding noticed a digital display on one of the pumps smashed and decided to review surveillance footage.

The footage allegedly showed Burgess, in a fit of rage, punching the pump. Once the exact monetary damages are calculated, this case will be sent to the Shasta County District Attorney's office for a felony complaint of vandalism
