The 3rd Annual Junior Leadership Development Program Spring Gala Fundraiser is coming up Friday, April 24th, at the CARD Center on Vallombrosa Avenue in Chico.

The program (JLDP) was developed by a group of young entrepreneurs from CSU, Chico in December of 2011. They were committed to working with at risk youth to create a new approach to learning. So they took on mentoring roles while creating program principles that included: Discovering your identity, The Art of Self Expression and Becoming a Positive Influence on Others.

There is also a strong emphasis on community service. Leadership Development Programs are now in place at 4 school sites in Butte County, reaching more than 150 youth. JLDP has a graduation rate of 90%.

The doors to the Spring Gala a the CARD Center will open at 5:30 for social hour, with a full 3 course meal and staffing donated by the Olive Garden, followed by live music by the Jeff Pershing Band and a no host bar. The evening will also include a student artwork exhibit, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and a scholarships and awards presentation.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at You can find out more about the Junior Leadership Development Program at
