Students in public safety and education programs at Butte College are now better equipped to handle a mass casualty incident after a training drill Wednesday.
Future first responders from the fire academy, paramedic and nursing programs responded yesterday to simulated scenarios, featuring a traffic accident and a burning building.
Instructors say the ultimate goal is to prepare the students for the real thing.
The exercise was the largest of its kind at Butte College. The Fire Academy wraps up its class this week, and a graduation ceremony takes place Thursday.
