The Chico State community is in shock after another student is killed in an accident over the weekend.
In this case, 21-year-old Nick Klein was crossing an intersection in the south campus neighborhood, when an SUV hit and killed him.
Action News Now spoke with some of Klein's friends who were visiting his makeshift memorial this morning.
They said he had a great sense of humor and was incredibly intelligent.
Chico State's Joe Wills told Action News Now that Klein was a mechanical engineering senior, with a math minor.
He said Klein, originally from Tuolumne, was a serious student with a bright future.
"It's just terrible to contemplate someone so young with so much promise being gone but that's the reality that we have today," Wills said.
Chico Police said they are still investigating the accident and cannot tell us any more about the driver of the Dodge SUV, who was not arrested.
Wills said the campus flag will fly at half-staff on Wednesday in memory of Klein.
Counseling services are being offered.
