Friends and family of a Chico State nursing student killed by a drunk driver almost three years ago, participated in the third annual Live, Laugh, Love and Run five kilometer run at Bidwell Park.
The run was held in the memory of Kristina Chesterman who was killed by a drunk driver in September of 2013.
Since her death, friends and family have raised funds to start a clinic in Nigeria.
Kristina’s parents say the 5-k and the effort to build the clinic in her name helps bring closure.
“It's very comforting and healing for us as a family,” said Sandra Chesterman, Kristina’s mother, “to go through something like this, you just can't even imagine the heartbreak you go through. It's things like this that keep my heart full.”
The Kristina Chesterman clinic is currently under construction and is planned to be finished by the end of the year.
