PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) - A friend of Oscar Pistorius has testified today that the Olympian twice fired guns in public in the six months before he killed his girlfriend.

Darren Fresco said one of those shootings was through the sunroof of a moving car after an angry altercation with a police officer who had handled the pistol. Pistorius has denied shooting the gun in the car, but there are now two witnesses who say he did.

Fresco's testimony portrayed Pistorius as a reckless hothead who had also asked Fresco to take the blame for a gun being fired accidentally under a table in a busy Johannesburg restaurant.

Pistorius is on trial for the shooting death of his girlfriend last year. He has said the shooting was an accident, and that he thought he was firing at a dangerous intruder behind a bathroom door.
