A wheelchair-bound gang member from Fresno has been sentenced to 159 years in prison for killing a man in Oroville last November.

In September, Yatee Her was convicted of killing 21-year-old Yuba City resident Giovanni Alvarez and wounding two Oroville residents in a shooting on Rusty Dusty Road in Oroville.

The home at which the shooting occurred was used for large scale marijuana operations.

The shootings occurred on November 21, 2014, and prosecutors say a video surveillance system showed Her sitting in his wheelchair and firing at Alvarez, who was just a few feet away.

Her’s sentence of 159 years to life was handed down Wednesday, and was increased due to a prior strike, according to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey. Ramsey says Her was previously involved in a drive-by shooting in Fresno, but his intended victim shot back, leaving Her confined to a wheelchair.
