Free health care clinic in Paradise forced to close

A healthcare clinic in Paradise that offers free medical and mental health services to anyone in the community needing help is being forced to shut down its operation.

The Samaritan Free Clinic, which operated at Luther Hall, on the campus of Paradise Lutheran Church on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. is closing because officials have not been able to get the amount of doctors needed to volunteer.

We have made heroic efforts to remain open, scaling back hours, and even days of operation, but without a doctor we cannot legally treat patients, church officials said.

The Samaritan Free Clinic hopes to reopen in the future.
