Local authorities are warning drivers this Fourth of July to "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."
Butte County's "Avoid the 8" Task Force is reminding north staters that if your holiday celebration involves alcohol, it can quickly go from festive to fatal if you drink and drive.
In 2012 over the Fourth of july holiday period there were 78 people killed in DUI crashes on our nation's roads.
To crack down this year, the eight law enforcement agencies in Butte County, as well as those in other Northstate counties, will be ramping up their inforcement to make our roads safer. DUI and driver's license checkpoints are planned, along with DUI saturation patrols for the maximum enforcement period from July 3rd to midnight July 6th.
Aside from putting your life and the lives of others at risk, driving impaired can lead to other serious consequences ... like time in jail, loss of y our license, and related costs of up to $10,000.00.
