A horrific accident south of Yuba City claimed the life of four people. It happened on Highway 99 at Oswald Drive about 2:30 this afternoon.
According to the CHP, the driver of the Camry was west on Oswald and entered the intersection at Highway 99 for an unknown reason.
The driver of a Mercedes heading south, struck the Toyota, broadside, ejecting one of the passengers in the backseat who was not wearing a seat belt and was killed. The driver of the Toyota and the two other passengers were also killed.
All four men in the Toyota killed were from Yuba City.
The four occupants of the Mercedes were taken to the hospital for their injuries. The driver received major injuries and was from Chico. Two passengers were from Chico and a third passenger was from Paradise. Their injuries were minor to major.
It's unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a factor.
