ST. LOUIS (AP) - Organizers say thousands of activists from around the country will be in the St. Louis area starting today, for four days of rallies, marches and civil disobedience to protest the August 9 police shooting of an unarmed black 18-year-old.
And St. Louis attorney Jerryl Christmas says this week's shooting of a black 18-year-old by an off-duty officer working as a security guard will escalate the situation.
Police say Wednesday's shooting death of Vonderrit Myers came after Myers shot at the officer.
Myers mother says her son was only carrying a sandwich.
