A federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment Thursday against a former Yuba City police officer, in connection with a suspected cocaine trafficking scheme.
According to court documents, 35-year-old officer Harminder Phagura and 39-year-old Gursharan Phagura are accused of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, as well as accepting bribes.
Specials agents with U.S. Immigration's Homeland Security Unit arrested both suspects on April 15th.
Harminder Phagura was released on a $100,000 bond. If convicted, the defendants face a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison.
