The Chico State baseball program has had a long and proud history of fielding solid squads for nearly twenty years.
Part of what has made them so good over the years is the quality of players they continously bring in and just recently they added another talented one with local ties.
Former Red Bluff High School and Butte College utility player Evan Sinclair has committed to play for the Wildcats.
Sinclair spent last season leading off and playing infield and outfield for Butte. He hit .305 with 3 doubles, 3 triples and one home-run. He also led the team with 20 steals.
Sinclair says he's looking forward to joining the prestigious Wildcats program and he wants to help them get back to the Division-2 College World Series, a spot they were in two years ago.
"As far as I'm concerned they had a down year but that's about to change hopefully next year. I'll be able to help them out on the base paths a little bit because I've got a little speed and utility wise I just hope I can help them out and get some wins, it's just great being local being able to play in front of the family and stuff. Go Cats," said Sinclair.
Several other Butte College baseball players from this year's team have moved on to higher levels as well. Here's a list of where they're going:
1B/RHP Nick Carney - York College
C Justin Beatty - University of Pikeville
C Sean David-Clark - Hope International University
LHP Keifer Sivret - San Francisco State University
1B/OF Ryan Rodriguez - Dixie State University
INF Jordan Garr - Rogers State University
OF Anthony Roberts - Cal State University Monterey Bay
OF Latrell Harris - University of Texas Permian Basin
RHP Brandon Facha - Biola University
INF Bryce Gieseke - University of Antelope Valley
Congrats to these Butte Roadrunners who are moving to the collegiate level.
