A former Butte County Planning Commissioner will be sentenced next month after entering a "no contest" plea on one count of theft from an elder Friday.
68-year-older Dan Gordon pleaded no contest to the felony count, and as a result the District Attorney's office dropped charges of grand theft and money laundering, but Gordon did consent to handing over relevant banking information.
According to the District Attorney's Office Gordon took money from an elderly Butte County woman and his own mother. Investigators say Gordon deposited more than $400,000 dollars to a joint account he had with his mother before fleeing the state.
Gordon will be sentenced on August 6th and faces up to three years in prison.
