A former City of Oroville Planning Commissioner who was found guilty of elder theft will spend the next four years behind bars.

After fleeing the state, 68-year-old Dan Gordon was arrested April 30 of last year in North Dakota. He was extradited back to California on charges of grand theft and money laundering.

Gordon admitted to stealing over $700,000 from three victims, including his own mother. The prosecutor on this case says this type of elder abuse is common, and often under reported.

In addition to the four year sentence, Gordon will have to pay back the $700,000 he stole.
