A former Oroville Mayor and local CPA pleaded no-contest today to two counts of Grand Theft by Embezzlement.
Prosecutors say 68 year old Dennis Diver stole more than 400 thousand dollars from a local service club, three trusts and one estate.
All of the accounts were managed by Diver through his Oroville accounting firm.
District Attorney Mike Ramsey said Diver was cooperative during the investigation and by the time the criminal complaint was filed, he had repaid $186 thousand dollars of the money.
Diver faces four years, eight months in state prison.
But, Ramsey says he will likely be granted probation ... so he can continue to pay restitution, with interest.
Diver is expected to lose his CPA license.
In the past ... he had been used by the Butte County D.A's office as an expert in fraud cases.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 30, 2015.
