Former Major League Baseball player Jeremy Affeldt has been named the featured speaker for Chico American Legion Baseball's 19th annual Spring Fever dinner. The event, which serves as a fundraiser for the Chico Nuts, is set for March 4th at Manzanita Place in Chico.
The left-handed relief pitcher enjoyed a 14-year career with the Royals, Reds, Rockies and Giants before retiring after this season.
He spent the last seven years in San Francisco's bullpen, throwing 360 innings with a 3.05 ERA in a setup role. He had a sparkling 0.86 ERA in 31.1 playoff innings, quietly ranking among the best postseason relievers of all-time while helping the Giants win three World Series titles.
Affeldt will discuss his career ithe big leagues and will be sharing the lessons he's learned with the youngsters and parents in attendance. In addition to his speech he will also be meeting with the fans, signing autographs, and taking pictures.
