Former Chico High standout Sterling Smith, a 6-4 shooting guard at Coppin State, has transferred to Pittsburgh. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Smith, who chose the Panthers over Wake Forest and Louisville, averaged 13.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last season. He also made 42 percent of his 3-point attempts and earned second team All-MEAC honors.
As a senior at Chico High, Smith averaged 23.5 points per game and led his team to a 27-2 record.
Chico Enterprise Record sportswriter Nick Woodard first reported the story.
