Former Butte RB Kendall Williams to play for Iowa State

Former Butte College running back Kendall Williams has finally made it to the next level.

Williams has earned a scholarship to play for Iowa State in the Big-12 conference.

The bruising back originally signed with University of Arizona, but he never made it to Tucson because he broke his hip and missed all of what would have been his sophomore season at Butte.

But when a spot opened up at Iowa State in late June, the Cyclones' coaching staff flew Williams out and offered him a scholarship, which he gladly accepted.

It will be interesting to see if Williams can give the Iowa State backfield a boost this season. He rushed for 1,156 yards and nine touchdowns as a freshman two years ago, but he has to shake off some rust coming off the hip injury.
