A former Butte County Correctional Officer convicted of committing sex crimes in the presence of a female inmate has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Timothy Hill, 27, pleaded no contest to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of an inmate last month, and as a result charges of sexual battery and indecent exposure were dropped.
In addition to the jail sentence, Hill will spend three years on probation and be ordered to complete a sex-offender treatment program.
Hill was taken into custody immediately after the sentence came down, which surprised him, according to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey. “Hill expected that he would be allowed to serve his sentence on a work alternative program, but he was wrong” Ramsey said.
Prosecutors say Hill touched his genitals in front of a female inmate while he worked at the Butte County Jail in 2014.
