Shasta County has confirmed its first human case of west nile virus this year.
The patient ... an adult from the central part of the county ... did not have to be hospitalized and is recovering.
According to the State Health Department, Butte, Glenn and Yuba ounties also reported new cases of human west nile this week.
So, reminders are going out that everyone is at risk for west nile during this warm autumn, and that mosquitos carry the virus.
That's why you're once again being encouraged to drain standing water, and to protect against mosquito bites.
So far, there have been 275 cases of human west nile in California this year.
Seven of those were fatal ... including one in Glenn county and one in Sutter county.##
